About
The Agentic Commerce Protocol
The Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) is an open standard that enables AI agents to complete commercial transactions on behalf of users. Co-developed by OpenAI and Stripe, ACP creates a secure, standardized way for AI assistants to help users shop, compare products, and complete purchases through natural conversation.
Our Mission
This documentation site exists to:
- Educate developers and merchants about agentic commerce
- Provide comprehensive implementation guides and tutorials
- Foster a community around the open standard
- Accelerate adoption of AI-powered shopping experiences
The Protocol Creators
OpenAI
OpenAI developed the AI agent capabilities that power conversational commerce. Through ChatGPT’s Instant Checkout feature, users can discover products, compare options, and complete purchases entirely through natural language.
Stripe
Stripe provides the payment infrastructure that makes secure, delegated payments possible. Their Shared Payment Token technology enables AI agents to process transactions without ever accessing actual payment credentials.
